Vis-mades: Mosaics as a glimpse into the moment

A picture is worth a thousand words – that's a well-known rule of communication. It's also the basis of my new artistic format called "Vis-mades." In it, photographs from my everyday life merge with postcards. On my wanderings, including through Berlin, I constantly encounter wonderful subjects for this project.
The 8 made from two Tibetan bracelets
In the Vis-made piece "The Encounter," shown in the image above, I have arranged two Tibetan bracelets, intended for Judith and me, in the lower right corner, along with a blue front door from Stralsund and an inscription on a lamppost at the Amorbach train station, forming a triangle. Above this, I have added a heart, its face contorted against a pink background. From within a wooden frame, a Zen-inspired artwork gazes out at the viewer, in which my portrait completes the four other mosaic pieces. Perhaps this Vis-made piece, through my work here, offers a glimpse into the future.

Postcards, as part of another Vis-made entitled "Dancing with love", are partly textual and visual works by the world-famous author Paulo Coelho.
The author initially encountered incomprehension and rejection from those around him because of his writing style. He persevered, however, and ultimately found himself and his success. I see parallels in how the Fornos and Vis-mades were received by my social circle. My artistic career path is not accepted by those around me and is sometimes even opposed. Recently, my daughter texted me on WhatsApp, telling me I should seek help because she perceived me as being acutely psychotic.
Lightness as a common thread
My paintings tell stories from life and the world. They are a symbiosis.
of inner and outer worlds. Times reflected in the respective images merge into a snapshot that depicts eternity. This is also true of the lower Vis-made, "Dancing with Love." Three postcards, including one with a motif by Gustav Klimt against a white background and another with a photograph I took in Essaouira, Morocco, in 1995, combine to form the aforementioned image. The Vis-made aims to convey lightness, combined in text, image, and color. Its mosaic of different images was created spontaneously and in a very short time. The frame is made of veneered plastic, designed to resemble wood. The viewer is captivated—her eyes tell me so when I look at her from the side.
Conclusion
The spontaneous mosaic of a Vis-made is a snapshot that offers the viewer a wide range of interpretations. It takes them by the hand on a journey to new horizons. :D
