The Golf 8 is parked fully loaded in the parking lot of the Hotel Alexa in Göhren/Rügen. I checked in there yesterday in the early afternoon, slept until 11 p.m., and am now wide awake. The island of Rügen is a wonderful place, offering a natural experience far removed from the hustle and bustle of major German cities. The birdlife on Rügen fascinates me anew every day this summer. Rügen has a diameter of approximately 50 km and can rightly call itself one of the most beautiful islands in Europe.

The rose city of Putbus
There's a town on the island called Putbus, which can rightly call itself the rose capital. The accompanying photo was taken there. I visited this centrally located town in the middle of this week and stayed at the Hotel Bäderhaus Goor , situated just outside and above the town. The hotel offers an exceptional ambiance and is also striking for its unique architecture. The following day, I continued my exploration of the bird island and stopped, among other places, in Scharprode. From there, you can enjoy wonderful views of the unspoiled nature and the Baltic Sea. My goal is to settle on Rügen and find an apartment.
First days on Rügen
Currently, in this initial phase, I'm staying in hotels and Airbnbs scattered across Rügen . I want to get a feel for the island through my travels. I'm curious to see where this Baltic Sea island will take me. First and foremost, I'm thrilled to have given up my old apartment in Aschaffenburg, moved north, and arrived on Rügen. I owe my discovery of this place to Judith. She's lived here for some time and recommended the island to me through her presence and our getting to know each other.

The sunrises and sunsets on Rügen sometimes take my breath away. During my last stay, I had an Airbnb in Mönchsgut near Middelhagen, where, with the window slightly open to the east, I could watch the sun rise and set in the west, opposite my apartment – each time in the most wonderful light. I hope to soon be able to redecorate and find a nice place for myself on Rügen. It's 4:38 a.m. now, and I'm looking forward to a hearty breakfast at the Hotel Alexa.
I'll know what I'm doing tomorrow when the time comes. :D
