The day before yesterday afternoon, I arrived in the small town of Lassan near Anklam in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with my fully loaded Golf 8. It lies somewhat off the beaten track near the island of Usedom. I haven't yet found a permanent residence, which I had planned to find in northern Germany. Lassan has many empty houses, and the exodus of young people to other places where employment is available is significant. I learned this in a conversation today with the owner of my Airbnb . Nevertheless, the town, with its approximately 700 inhabitants, offers opportunities to experience nature and glimpses of a cultural life. I'm pleased to know that there are shopping options in Lassan and I'm taking advantage of them. I'll be here until August 17, 2026, which is past my 62nd birthday on August 15, 2026, and I hope to find some opportunities to market my art here.

Looking for marketing opportunities in the north
This would be the prerequisite for settling down and would certainly open further doors to finding a place to live. I'm thrilled by the nature, water, and tranquility of the places I've had the pleasure of experiencing in northern Germany in the 10 days since leaving Aschaffenburg. My Airbnb here is very cozy, I listen to music via YouTube Music, and I know how to keep myself occupied. The kitchen table serves as my base for my laptop, iPhone, and latte—the rest is practically automatic. Oh, and I use the keyboard. :D
10 days on the road
My 10-day trip also took me to the island of Rügen for 7 days. During this time, I also visited Mönchsgut again, where I know Judith Rakers' house to be. Last week, I arrived there at 2:30 a.m. I drove past the house, glanced over, and parked my Golf 8 500 meters further on in a very quiet spot. Awake as I was, I grabbed my damp laundry from the back of my Golf, pulled my clothes drying rack out from behind the tailgate, and set it up next to the barely used road. A little later, the laundry was hanging on the rack to dry. I had washed it the day before at a laundromat in Göhren/Rügen. After the laundry had hung in the Rügen breeze, I set off...

Judith's house. I'd even entertained the idea that she might be coming towards me through the night from her beautiful house. Unfortunately, I didn't meet Judith on my way that night. So I walked back to my Golf and, around 4:00 a.m., took my laundry out of the rain as the light of the new day rose from the east. I didn't give up: Around 5:30 a.m., I drove through the half-open gate of her property, right up to her front door. Since Judith was presumably still asleep, I didn't ring her doorbell. I knew I couldn't reverse out through the gate. So I turned around in front of her house and drove front-first through the open gate to reach the street. :D
I'm still on my way to finding the love of my life. <3
