Sweaties and Germany

About two weeks ago, Andreas Moser from AMO-Design added my first Sweaties to the L-art Shop. These artworks are snapshots depictions of everyday moments captured in the kitchen and dining area. The key here lies in the perspective: combined with a catchy title, I offer the viewer a fresh perspective on the specific moment captured in each photograph.

Sweaties and a Perspective on the Current Political Situation in Germany

My artistic path also affords me a perspective on events within our country one that I would like to share here: Federal Chancellor Dr. Friedrich Merz and his government team have set out to tackle reforms for Germany. If the German ship is to regain momentum, however, it requires in my view reforms that run deeper than those currently planned. The regulatory and bureaucratic framework is in need of a fundamental restructuring. To the best of my knowledge, the Federal Republic’s tax and administrative systems date back to the Imperial era at the beginning of the 20th century. The cosmetic adjustments made by previous governments have yielded little tangible relief for the people and businesses of this country.

An example of the need for correction regarding bureaucratic requirements placed upon citizens.

If, for instance, I speak with my bicycle dealer Jogi in Aschaffenburg, he faces such a heavy burden of bureaucratic requirements over and above his daily operations for his two- or three-person business that he struggles to complete his workload as a self-employed entrepreneur, even with a ten-hour workday. The result is dissatisfaction, frustration with the political climate, and potentially negative health consequences for both him and his team.

Courage is required from those with political responsibility.

What is needed now is the courage to tackle profound structural reforms for Germany and the chutzpah to accept that making a mistake is sometimes permissible. I am convinced that if we succeed in achieving a deep-seated deregulation of the tax and administrative systems, the people of this country will regain the energy to develop visions from which our nation as a business location will benefit immensely. Economic prosperity which is already being bolstered by the digitalization initiatives currently underway in these sectors can then continue to flourish. These reforms will be good for our country of that, I am deeply convinced. Furthermore, the dissatisfaction with those in political office colloquially known as "political fatigue" could begin to subside. People would turn out to vote in greater numbers once again and perhaps not for the AfD. :D

AI as Support for Reform

The possibilities that artificial intelligence offers for such a fresh start are virtually inexhaustible. I believe the future lies in a financial and administrative strategy operating on the basis of this relatively new technology. The consequences would be an enormous simplification of work both for individuals and for the state as well as excellent interfaces with the business sector. Bureaucratic burdens would thus be significantly reduced. Naturally, the question concerning the country’s workforce follows close on the heels of this: What will happen to my job? How will I earn my daily bread? I do not have an answer to that question at this juncture. However, I do know that an unconditional basic income as is frequently proposed would not be beneficial for people. An excess of leisure time, funded by such an income, and the resulting deficit in productivity and demand for performance would create a void within citizens that could lead to health problems.

Conclusion

The need for reform in Germany is immense. Yet, to date, no government in this country has had the courage to tackle it. The artistic path I embarked upon in 2024 is opening my eyes to this need for renewal. Art unlocks new ways of thinking and the courage to address the issues at hand. I am on my way. <3
